From 2014 and early 2017, I worked on a health care startup called Sage Care. It is an in-home care service for seniors, powered by web and mobile technology. Seniors who need some help around the house can use us to get find an accredited, private duty caregiver. And our technology helps their family stay in touch with their loved one's care. I had first started Sage Care with my co-founder based on our own experiences. My mom started working as a private duty caregiver in 2010. It is a job that is very popular amongst female immigrants. I saw the struggles faced by caregivers like her who performed very arduous work on a daily for very little pay.
The journey of Sage Care has had lots of ups and downs. It is one of the most rewarding and exciting journeys in my life so far. I remember the excitement my co-founder and I felt when we got our first customer after months of hard work. I remember the time when a client's family told me that getting help from Sage Care was the single best decision for their loved one's care. In addition, we were fortunate enough to be a part of Y Combinator's summer 2016 batch (thanks Kevin Hale and Michael Seibel!).
Prior to Sage Care, I worked as the Director of Product at an automobile startup called Unhaggle. It was a great environment led by a group of very smart founders. One of the most exciting projects I worked on was designing an end-to-end online new car buying app for Ford and Hyundai Canada. It was the nation's first. Before Unhaggle, I was working as a designer at a consulting company called Myplanet where I worked with Fortune 500 companies.
